Wish We Had Better
News
Greetings sportfishermen and
friends; wish we had better news!
As of this date, we are still hoping
to conduct the 6th annual Cajun
Canyons Billfish Classic at Cypress
Cove as scheduled June 1—June 6, but
it does not look good. Presently,
Cypress Cove Marina and Lodge is
open and doing business, as boats
are running Tiger Pass and fishing
to the West. We plan on making a
more definitive announcement no
later than May 10. In the event that
the oil spill at Mississippi Canyon
252 dictates that we are forced to
cancel or re-schedule our tournament
for later dates, we will be offering
100% refunds to all boats that had
paid in our early registration.
For additional information, you can
go to
www.deepwaterhorizonresponse.com
Also, NOAA and NMFS have issued a 10
day closure (effective May 2-12, for
now) for commercial and recreational
fishing from the Mouth of the
Mississippi River East to Pensacola,
Florida in federal waters; here is a
link to the
National Marine Fisheries closure
map.
In closing, I ask you to say a
prayer for the families that lost
loved ones in the Deepwater Horizon
explosion, everyone affected by this
tragedy, and those working around
the clock, and include a prayer that
the leak be STOPPED!
Regards,
Steve Thomas
